How can ADLip Help?

The process of separating, dividing your assets and deciding what is best for children can be stressful and traumatic. On top of that, it can be very expensive to conduct the litigation, and Legal Aid, the government subsidy for legal fees, is only available in special cases.

As a result, more and more people are being forced into organising and managing their own litigation, as well as presenting their own case in court – a very daunting task, and knowing where to start can be incredibly difficult, particularly if the issues are legally complex or you’re faced with a represented party on the other side

That’s where we come in…

We are team of experienced family law paralegals and intermediaries who can instruct barristers under the Direct Public Access scheme and support Litigants in Person through the stressful process of family breakdown, at a fraction of the cost a solicitor would charge.

What work does ADLip do?
  • It is important to us that you understand your case, so we explain how the court process works and what you can expect at a hearing.
  • We will find you exactly the right barrister for your case and arrange meetings with him or her to set you up for success.
  • We also organise all the court paperwork, your legal correspondence and general case management at a fraction of the cost of a solicitor.
  • We prepare the case papers for court hearings. All of this work is sometimes referred to as paralegal services. There are some things that ADLip cannot do, such as conduct the litigation or file and serve documents on your behalf.
  • We give clear guidance both in respect of the rules governing family proceedings and how those rules may apply to you.
  • We attend court to take notes, and to give moral support if necessary – it’s a daunting time!
  • Where your ex partner is also unrepresented, we offer practical advice, particularly on the issue of managing communications and interim child arrangements, in order to avoid or mitigate unnecessary conflict and stress.
  • If required, we are happy to recommend family mediators, specialist therapists and counsellors.
  • We can recommend experts to provide reports in relation to Part 25 applications

Reserved Activities

ADLip is an unregulated service provider. A paralegal is not a solicitor. There are a number of legal tasks known as reserved activities that are the preserve of solicitors or other regulated providers under the terms of the Legal Services Act 2007, that we are not permitted to undertake on your behalf:

  • ADLip cannot file a Notice of Acting nor go on the court record as acting for you.
  • ADLip cannot sign court documents or correspondence on your behalf.
  • ADLip cannot file documents at court on your behalf nor serve the same on others.
  • ADLip cannot conduct litigation on your behalf, nor represent ADLip as acting on your behalf
